Niketan Moorti Art is located at Krishna Bhawan, right on the 2nd Cross of Khazane Walon Ka Rasta. If you know this area, you know it is famous for people working with stone and marble. Our workshop is always filled with the sound of chisels and the fine white dust that comes from carving. It gets everywhere, on our hair, our skin, and even in our tea if we aren't careful. We have been at this for a long time, following the traditions of the street we live on. Most of our day is spent bent over a block of stone, trying to find the shape inside it. It’s hard physical work and your hands get rough after a few years of doing this. We don’t have a big fancy office, just the workspace where the magic happens and a small area to sit down. Sometimes the street gets very crowded with tourists and buyers, but inside Krishna Bhawan, we just focus on the task at hand. We make all sorts of figures and decorative items. Each one takes time and a lot of patience. You can't rush this kind of thing or the stone might crack. We just take it day by day, making sure the work is solid and the lines are clean before anything leaves our doors to go to its new home.
