Our workshop is located at 2435, Bhindow Ka Rasta, right in the middle of Chandpole Bazar. This is a part of the city where the streets are narrow and always crowded with people and rickshaws. At Natha Moorti Art, we spend almost all our time covered in a fine layer of white stone dust. It’s the kind of work where your hands are always rough and your clothes never really look clean. We don’t have an office with desks or chairs. We mostly just sit on the floor on small mats and work with our hammers and chisels. The sound of stone being tapped is constant from morning until evening. We’ve been in this spot for a very long time, and the building itself shows its age with its worn-out walls and old wooden doors. We don't have a marketing department or any big signs. Most people find us just by walking through the bazar and seeing the statues lined up near the entrance. It’s a slow process to carve something out of a block of stone, and there are no shortcuts to it. Sometimes the light isn't great in the back of the shop, so we move closer to the front. We aren't trying to be famous or anything like that. We just focus on the piece of stone in front of us and try to get it right. It is hard work, but it is what we know.
