Madhuran Sweets

Jhotwara is where we’ve always been, right in the thick of things. Our shop isn’t anything crazy to look at, just a counter and some glass cases full of whatever we made that morning. We wake up early to start the milk boiling. It takes a lot of time to get the consistency right for some of these sweets, and we don’t like to rush it. Sometimes the shop feels a bit small when a few people come in at once, but we make it work. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we’re still here doing the same thing. The floors get sticky by the end of the day, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the job. We don’t use any big machines, mostly just big pans and our hands. It's tiring work, especially during the holidays when everyone wants something for their family. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the shop front where you can see what’s fresh. People know us by now, so we don't need to do much else. Just showing up and keeping the trays filled is enough. It’s a honest way to make a living and we like being part of the Jhotwara community. Nothing fancy, just sweets and hard work every day. Sometimes we run out of the best stuff early, but that just means we have to start earlier the next day to keep the shelves full for everyone.
