We are located at S 2/B on Kabir Marg in Bani Park. My father started this long ago and now we just carry it on. Every morning we start the fires to boil the milk. The whole street smells like sugar and cardamom early on. Bani Park is a quiet neighborhood mostly, but our corner stays active. We have regulars who come every single morning for their fix. We don't use fancy machines for everything, we still do a lot by hand. Sometimes the batches don't look perfect, but they taste like they should. We deal with the local suppliers for milk and nuts. It's a lot of lifting heavy pots. The floor gets sticky by noon, so we have to wash it down constantly. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just make the sweets and put them in the glass cases. If people like them, they come back. That's how it has always worked for us at Lalaji Sweets. Kabir Marg has changed quite a bit over the years with more cars and new houses. But we are still here in the same spot. It's a simple life. We close up when the trays are empty or when it gets late. It’s just what we do every day. We don't have anything fancy to say about ourselves. We just make the sweets and hope the day goes well.
