If you find yourself in the middle of Tripolia Bazar, look for Vidhya Dhar Ji Ka Rasta. We are at number 625 in the Juniwal Bhawan. It is a very old building in a very old part of town. The stairs are narrow and the rooms are packed with all kinds of novelty items. It is the kind of place where you have to move a box to find a chair. We spend our days sorting through new stock and packing things for people who come in from the market. The sounds of the bazaar come right through the windows—shouting, horns, and the general clatter of Jaipur. We have shelves reaching almost to the ceiling, filled with bits and pieces that we have collected over time. It is a bit of a maze inside. We do not have a fancy computer system; we mostly use paper notes and memory. It is a family-style environment where we know our regular visitors by name. Sometimes we sit on the floor to sort through the smaller items because there is more room there. Tea is served multiple times a day to whoever is around. We just handle the novelties and try to keep things moving in the cramped space. It is a busy, messy, and lively way to spend the day. We have been in this spot for years.
