Artasia

Artasia is located in the Sitapura Industrial Area of Jaipur. Our plots are G-292 to 294 in the EPIP zone. Being in Jaipur, we are surrounded by a lot of craft and history, and that shows in what we do. We mostly deal with artistic items and furniture. The workshop is usually a mess of wood, metal, and fabric. It is a big space because some of the pieces we work on are quite large. We have craftsmen who have been doing this for decades. They don’t need fancy machines for everything; they use their hands and their eyes. It gets hot in Jaipur, so we start early to beat the sun. We don’t really have a polished sales pitch. We just show people what we have made and let them decide. The office part of the building is just a few desks where we handle the export papers and talk to buyers. Sometimes we have visitors from other countries coming to see the production. We offer them tea and show them around the dusty floors. It is not a glamorous life, but it is satisfying to see a finished piece of furniture or art ready to be shipped out. We are just a group of people in Sitapura trying to keep the traditional ways alive while making a living. No fancy missions, just good old-fashioned making things by hand. We stay focused on the craft and the daily workshop noise.
