Our place is located at 327, Old Amer Road, which is right near the Zorawar Singh Gate. It is a very old part of the city, and the building has that character you only get from age. We call it Kashmir Carpet Museum, but it really just feels like a big storehouse for all the pieces we have gathered. The road outside is always busy with rickshaws and tourists going toward the fort, so there is a constant hum of engines. Inside, the air is a bit cooler because of the thick walls. We have items spread out across several rooms, and it is easy to lose track of time while looking through them. Some of the ceilings are low, so you have to watch your head in a couple of spots. We don't have a polished showroom with bright lights. Instead, we use the natural light coming through the doorways. Every morning, we sweep the floors and try to get the dust off the displays, but in Jaipur, the dust always finds a way back in. We are just a small group of people who care about these objects. Sometimes we sit on the floor and drink chai while we talk about the day's business. It is not a corporate environment at all. It is just us, the carpets, and the old road outside the gate. We take things slow and don't worry too much about the rush.
