Clay Craft India Pvt. Ltd is situated at F-766 on Road Number 1-D in the VKI Area. Just like the other factories around here it’s a very busy and noisy environment. We have trucks coming in with raw materials and leaving with finished goods all day long. The air is often thick with the smell of fired clay and the hum of the machinery is something you just learn to ignore after the first week. Our office is a simple room with a couple of old computers and stacks of papers that never seem to go away. We don’t have any fancy mission statements on the walls or anything like that. It’s just a place of work where people come to do their jobs. Sometimes the power goes out and we all have to wait around for the generator to kick in which is always a bit of a nuisance. The canteen nearby serves okay food but most of us bring a dabba from home. It’s a very physical business and by the end of the shift everyone is usually pretty tired. We focus on getting the shapes right and making sure the glaze looks okay before the items go into the ovens. There’s a lot of sweat and effort that goes into every piece even if it just looks like a simple mug at the end of the day. It’s honest work and we’re just trying to keep the business going.
