We are located at number 25 in Gopalbari. Iris Corporate Wear (P) Ltd. might sound like a big name, but we are just a group of people who know our way around a sewing machine and a cutting table. Gopalbari is a nice enough area, a bit quieter than some of the main markets, which helps us stay focused on the work. We mostly deal with uniforms and work clothes, so there’s a lot of grey, blue, and black fabric sitting around the workshop. It’s not the most colorful place, but it’s busy. We spend our mornings checking the stitching on the shirts and making sure the trousers are the right length. Sometimes the machines act up, and we have to spend an hour fixing a motor, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t have a big fancy lobby for visitors. Most people just walk right into the work area where the iron is always steaming. We’ve got a couple of big tables where we spread out the patterns. It can get a bit hectic when a large order is due, and we end up staying late drinking too much tea to keep going. We just try to get the garments done so the workers who wear them can get on with their own jobs. It’s a practical business, and we like keeping it that way without any fuss or unnecessary meetings. We just cut the cloth and sew it.
