Kalatmak Stage Art is our small operation based between Gangouri Bazar and Indra Bazar. We spend our time putting together things for stages and local events. It involves a lot of fabric, wood, paint, and sometimes a bit of lighting if the job calls for it. The workshop is usually a mess of scraps and half-finished projects because there is always a deadline looming for some function or another. We aren't a big event management firm with shiny brochures. We are the people who actually build the backdrops and set up the decorations. It’s hard work and involves a lot of climbing ladders and hauling heavy stuff around. The markets around us are always loud, which matches the energy of what we do. Sometimes we are working all night to get a stage ready for a morning event. Our hands are usually stained with paint or dust. We’ve done setups for weddings, school plays, and local festivals over the years. People usually come to us because they saw something we did for someone else. It’s a creative job but it’s mostly about physical labor and making sure things don't fall over when someone walks on stage. We just like making things look decent for whatever gathering is happening in the city. It’s tiring but seeing the final result under the lights is usually worth the effort we put in.
