Joshi Flour Mill

Joshi Flour Mill is tucked away in Ojha Ki Gali, right by Subhash Chowk in Gandhi Nagar. If you are getting off at the bus stop nearby, it is just a short walk to find us. It’s one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows everyone else. The sound of the grinding machines is pretty much constant throughout the day. You can usually smell the fresh grain in the air before you even see the door. We’ve been running this mill for quite a while now. It’s a dusty job, and by the end of the shift, we’re all covered in a fine layer of white powder. That’s just part of the trade, though. We don't have a fancy storefront with bright lights. It’s a simple room with the machinery and bags of grain stacked up against the walls. People come in with their sacks, wait for a bit, and talk about the weather or the local news while the mill does its thing. We try to keep the equipment in good shape, but sometimes things break and we have to spend the afternoon fixing a belt or cleaning out a jam. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s necessary for the community. We don't put on any acts here. We are just local people working in the same neighborhood where we live. It’s a slow and steady life, and we are happy with that. We just focus on grinding and packing.
