Jeypur Art & Frames

Our shop Jeypur Art & Frames is at 1260 Kishanpole Bazar. We are on Achariyon Ka Rasta and the Art Collage is just a short walk away. Being so close to the college means we get a lot of students coming in with their projects. We do a lot of framing for paintings and photos and sometimes even old maps. The shop is usually covered in sawdust from cutting the wood for the frames. I have a small machine for cutting the glass and you have to be very careful with your fingers. We have hundreds of different frame samples hanging on the walls but they are all a bit dusty. Kishanpole is a very old part of the city and the streets are quite narrow. You can hear the sound of the rickshaws and the people shouting outside all day. It is a small family business and we have been here for many years. Sometimes we have a lot of work and the frames are piled up everywhere on the floor. Other days are quiet and we just sit and drink chai while watching the people go by. We do not do anything fancy with computers or digital stuff. It is all manual work with hammers and nails and glue. We like being part of the art community here and seeing what people are creating. It is a good way to spend the day even if it is a bit messy.
