Jewels Emporium

M.I. Road gets pretty busy around noon, and that’s when we usually settle in. We’ve been at P.B. No. 67 for a long time now, so the walls have seen a lot of faces come and go. It’s not a huge place, just enough room for the counters and a few chairs that have seen better days. Every morning starts with opening the heavy shutters and dusting off the glass. You can hear the traffic outside, the horns and the people shouting, but inside it stays relatively quiet once the door is shut. We spend most of our time looking at small stones or talking to people who wander in after seeing the sign. Sometimes the tea guy from down the street brings over a couple of glasses, and we just sit there for a bit. It’s a job like any other, really. We sort through the inventory, check the ledgers, and try to keep things organized. The lighting is a bit old-fashioned, giving everything a warm sort of glow that makes the afternoon feel longer than it is. Most of the people who stop by are locals who know where we are, though occasionally someone gets lost looking for another shop and ends up here. We don't do much fancy talk. If someone wants to see something, we show it. If not, they just move on. It is a steady way to spend the day here on the main road.
