Jayalakshmi Spinning Mills

The mill is out in Chebrolu. It’s a quiet place compared to the big cities, but the mill itself is always buzzing with activity. Jayalakshmi Spinning Mills has been part of this landscape for a long time. If you drive through Chebrolu, you can’t miss the sound of the machinery running in the background. It’s a large site with several sheds where the actual spinning work happens. The air inside is often filled with a bit of lint and the smell of the machines. We have a small office area near the front gate where we handle the books and the payroll. It’s a simple brick building with basic wooden furniture that has seen better days. We don't have fancy air conditioning in the office, just a couple of pedestal fans that blow the air around. Most of us here have worked at the mill for years and we know the rhythm of the machines by heart. When something breaks, we usually just fix it ourselves. There’s a lot of walking involved, going from one section to another to check on the progress of the day. It’s physical work and it can be tiring, especially during the hot summer months. We don't have a big corporate structure or an HR department. If there’s a problem, we just talk it out and find a solution. We eat our lunch in the shade of the trees outside during the break.
