Gopinath Shyamlal Jewellers

Gopinath Shyamlal Jewellers is situated at 228-229, Haldiyon Ka Rasta, right in the middle of the busy Johari Bazar. If you have ever been to this part of Jaipur, you know how narrow the lanes are and how many people are always walking around. Our shop has been here for many years. It is a small place with wooden counters and old stools where customers sit. We spend a lot of our time looking at small pieces of metal and talking to families who have been buying from us for a long time. It is a tradition for them and we just keep the shop open for whenever they need something. We do not have big glass windows or bright spotlights like the new malls. The lighting is a bit dim and the walls have a few marks on them. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the whole bazar and we just sit and wait with the neighbors until it comes back on. We do not bother with big marketing plans or anything like that. Word of mouth is how most people find us. We keep our old ledgers and do our work the same way it has always been done. At the end of the day, we put everything away and lock the heavy doors. It is a long day in a crowded place, but it is our way of life.
