Ghoshi Diamonds

We sit at 360 Aakdon Ka Rasta in the Kishan Pole area. It’s an old part of the city, and the streets are narrow. Our building has been here forever. Inside, it’s mostly quiet, which is how we like it for the kind of work we do. We spend hours looking at diamonds, checking for flaws and deciding how to cut them or where they should go next. It takes a lot of patience. My father started this, and I just kind of took over when he got too tired to do the long hours. We have a few old microscopes and some tools that are quite worn down from use. The floor is made of old stone, and it stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We don't have a big staff, just two or three of us who know the trade. We don't really have a sales department or a marketing person. If someone wants to buy something, they sit down on the floor cushions with us and we talk. It’s a slow process, not like the shops you see in the malls. We drink a lot of water and listen to the birds outside the window. Sometimes we don't have a single visitor all day, and other times it’s three people at once. We just take it as it comes and do the work.
