Finding Bharto Bhawan isn't always easy if you aren't from around Chaura Rasta. It’s right at F 90, tucked away in the middle of all the noise and the shops here in Jaipur. We’ve been doing art work here for quite some time now. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the supplies and finished pieces leaning against the walls. My father used to say that a clean studio means no work is getting done, so we keep it a bit messy. You can hear the scooters and the shouting from the market all day long. It's just the way life is in this part of town. We mostly deal with locals who need things made for their shops or homes. There is no big marketing team here, just a few of us getting our hands dirty with paint and materials. Some days the light is better than others, which helps with the fine details. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just walk in or call us on the phone. Sometimes we take a little longer if a big order comes in, but we always finish it. It's honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down over the old city walls. It is a simple way of living but it feels right for us here in the bazaar.
