Curio Art Palace

Our shop is located at 46 M I Road, inside Gulba Niwas. If you know Jaipur, you know how busy M I Road can get. We have been sitting here for a long time, surrounded by all these old items and pieces of art. The building itself, Gulba Niwas, has its own character. Inside, we have shelves packed with things we’ve collected or made over the seasons. It isn't a showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a place where things are tucked away in corners. My uncle used to run the place, and he taught us how to look at the details of a brass statue or a wooden carving. We spend a lot of time cleaning the dust off the smaller pieces because the street outside brings in a lot of it. People walk in from the sidewalk just to look around, and we let them. There is no pressure. We just sit on our stools and talk about the weather or the local news. Sometimes a tourist wanders in, looking lost, and we help them with directions. The shop feels like home because we spend more time here than anywhere else. We don’t do big advertising. Most folks find us because they were already walking down M I Road. It’s a quiet life among old things and dusty shelves, and we like it that way.
