If you walk down towards Vishnupuri Jagatpura 408, you’ll find us easily enough. Bhagwati Misthan Bhandar is mostly about the smell of frying snacks and sweet syrup in the air. We open up the shutters early when the air is still a bit cool. The workers start kneading the dough and checking the milk quality right away. It’s a lot of manual work, and our hands are usually covered in flour or sugar by mid-morning. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a regular place with some benches and a wide counter. Jagatpura has a lot of dust because of all the construction nearby, so we are always wiping down the glass cases. We make the sweets in batches, so whatever is out front is usually what was made just a few hours ago. Some people complain that the tea is too sweet, but that is just how we like it here. There’s a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit, but it does the job during the afternoon heat. It gets really crowded during the festivals, and then it’s just a blur of packing boxes and counting change. We don’t really do anything fancy with the packaging, just the standard boxes everyone uses. It’s a loud, busy place most of the time, and we just try to keep up with the orders as they come in. There is always something that needs to be cleaned or a new batch of milk arriving.
