Annapoorna Sweets

Our shop, Annapoorna Sweets, is tucked away in Vidhyadhar Nagar at Central Spine G-1. It's pretty easy to find if you're walking around the main market area. We opened up here because it seemed like a decent spot for a local sweet shop. Every morning, we start by boiling the milk in large pots. You can smell it from the street if the wind is blowing the right way. It’s not a big corporate chain or anything like that. Just a local place where we know many of our customers by their first names. The floor is tiled and we try to keep it as clean as we can. Sometimes the kids from the nearby schools come in after their classes are over. It gets loud for a while, then it gets quiet again. We have a glass display case where everything is laid out for people to see. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations or lighting. Most of what you see in here is just practical stuff we need to get through the day. If a batch doesn't turn out just right, we just don't put it out for sale. It's honest work and we enjoy it. The address G-1 isn't hard to remember at all. We stay open until the last of the trays are empty or it gets too late. There is no special secret to what we do. We just show up, make the food, and talk to whoever comes in. It’s a steady rhythm that suits us well.
