Anand Mishthan Bhandar

People know us at Lalkothi Nagar Nigam 1. We’ve been here quite a while. Most days start early before the sun is even really up. We get the milk delivered and start the stoves. It gets hot in the back pretty quick. The shop isn't fancy or anything, just some glass counters and some chairs for people to sit if they’re tired from walking around the market. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and making sure the trays look decent. Sometimes the traffic outside near the Nagar Nigam office gets really loud, but we just keep working. It's a lot of manual work, lifting heavy pots and stirring things for hours. My hands are usually a bit tired by the end of the day. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just see the sign and come in. Some people have been coming here since they were kids and now they bring their own children. It’s just how it goes. We try to keep things simple and just focus on getting the daily batches done. Sometimes we run out of stuff before the evening, and that’s just how it is. We close up when the lights on the street come on. It’s a basic life here at Anand Mishthan Bhandar, but it keeps us busy and we like the routine of the neighborhood.
