Agra Sweet Shop

Agra Sweet Shop has been sitting here at Chandpole Bazar for a long time. Our address is Mishra Rajaji Ka Rasta 57, which can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't from around here. The lanes are narrow and there is always some rickshaw or bike trying to squeeze past. Inside the shop, it stays warm because of the stoves. We make a lot of traditional stuff that people in Jaipur seem to like. It gets really hectic during the festival months and sometimes we run out of space to put all the trays. I usually start the day early to get the first batch of sweets ready before the main market opens up. The walls have been the same color for years and the glass on the display case has a few scratches from all the years of use. It’s just how it is. We don't use fancy machines for everything, a lot of it is just done by hand by the guys in the back. Customers come in and talk about the news or how the weather is changing. It feels more like a meeting spot sometimes than just a shop. We try to keep things clean but it’s a constant battle with the soot from the bazar. We just do our work and go home when the sun sets and the street lights come on. It is a noisy place but we are used to it.
