You can find Legacy & Looms Private Limited over at Plot No 37 in Samatha Nagar, Kukatpally. It’s a busy part of Hyderabad with a lot of shops and houses nearby. We have our looms set up in a large room at the back. It’s where we spend most of the day. The name sounds a bit fancy but we are just regular people working with fabric. We have different types of looms for different patterns. It takes a lot of patience to get the threads right. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to start a section over. That is just how it goes with this kind of work. The front office is small and usually has stacks of papers and tea cups on the table. We don't have a big marketing team. We just talk to people who come by the shop. Samatha Nagar is a good place to be because everything we need is close by. The neighbors are nice and we often chat while we are loading the vans. It’s a bit cramped when we have a lot of orders, but we make do. We don't really follow any corporate rules. We just work until the job is done for the day. It’s a practical way to live and we enjoy the process of making things. It is just us here trying to keep the weaving tradition alive in our own way.
