Our shop, Rajasthan Marble And Tiles, is on Beneras Road. We are near the Kona High School, so you can hear the kids playing during their breaks. It’s a good landmark for people trying to find us. Being in the Po. Kona area means we are right in the thick of things. We have piles of tiles and slabs of marble stacked up inside and outside. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when a new delivery comes in. We’ve been here for years, and the road has definitely gotten busier. We spend most of the day talking to people who walk in from the street. They are usually looking for something specific for their kitchen or floors. We don’t use any high-tech systems here; we just know our inventory by heart. The dust from the stone is part of the life here. We usually have a bit of a mess near the cutting area, but we try to sweep up at the end of the day. It’s a local business through and through. We know the teachers at the school and the other shopkeepers on the road. We don’t really go in for big displays or bright lights. Our stock speaks for itself when people see it. It’s just us working through the piles of stone every day until it’s time to close the shutters and go home. There is always something to move or organize before we leave for the evening.
