Down at 531/431 on Phulpukur Road in Chinsurah, you’ll find the Naxstar Engg & Manufacturing workshop. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but we have plenty of space here. The building number is 502 and it's where we spend most of our daylight hours. We make parts and do engineering work. There is always the sound of machines running in the background. It gets quite dusty on the shop floor so we try to sweep up every evening before heading home. We aren't a giant factory, just a local setup where we handle one job at a time. Sometimes things get backed up when a machine breaks down, but we fix it ourselves and keep going. The rain hits the tin roof pretty loud during the monsoon months. We've stayed in Chinsurah because it is where we live and know everyone. Our tools are old but they still do the job right. We don't have a front desk or a receptionist to greet people. Usually, someone just wipes their hands on a rag and comes over to see what you need. It’s practical work. We don't worry about being a big name or having a shiny office. The focus is just on the metal and the measurements. If the gate is open, we are probably inside working on something. It isn't always quiet here but it's productive.
