Appayan Caterers

Appayan Caterers is based out in Chandannagar Khalisani. It’s a quieter part of town compared to the city center, which we kind of like. We have our kitchen set up here and that's where all the magic, if you want to call it that, happens. Most of us who work here live nearby in Khalisani too, so it feels like a real neighborhood effort. We don't have a big website or a social media manager. We just rely on word of mouth from the people we’ve served over the years. When there is a local festival or a wedding, we usually get quite busy and the whole place smells like spices and firewood. It can get pretty stressful when we have three orders on the same day, but we've learned how to handle it over time. We use local markets for most of our stuff because it's easier and we know the vendors there. Sometimes our delivery van breaks down and we have to scramble to find a replacement, but that’s just part of the job. Our space in Chandannagar isn't very big, so we have to stay organized with our pots and spoons. We just try to do an honest job and make sure nobody goes hungry at the events we cater. It's a simple life and a simple business, and we are fine with that.
