Our group, Narianmol Mahila Farmer Producer Companylimited, is mostly run by the women here in Girgaon. We are located at Rekha Tulshiram Nadre’s place in the Basmath area of Hingoli. It’s a bit different because it’s a mahila group, so we focus on what the women in the village are doing in the fields. Rekha has been kind enough to let us use her home as the base for all our activities. Girgaon is a quiet spot, but we stay busy with the seeds and the harvesting schedules. We decided to start this because we felt that the women needed their own space to manage the farming business. It’s not a big corporate office, just a house where we keep our papers and talk about the crops. Hingoli can be a tough place to farm, but we support each other. We spend a lot of time figuring out the best ways to process what we grow so we can get a better price. It’s about being practical and looking out for our families. Most of us have known each other since we were young, so there is a lot of trust. We don't use any big words or fancy strategies. We just look at what needs to be done today and we do it.
