Down in Sonkhed, at house number 1095, is where we run Jai Bhairavnath Farmers Producer Company. Ganesh Vithalrao Bavne is the one whose house we use as the main base for everything we do. We are a collective of farmers from around the Sonkhed area. It is not a very complicated business model. We just grow what we can and try to sell it together so we have a bit more leverage in the market. Farming can be a lonely job sometimes, so having this group helps us feel more connected to each other. The house is often full of people coming and going, especially in the early mornings before the sun gets too high. We talk about the rain, the pests, and the price of fuel mostly. We do not have a glossy office or anyone who wears a tie to work. Our hands are usually stained from the fields, and our boots are always a bit muddy. That is just the way it is out here. We took the name of Bhairavnath because he is important to us in this region. We try to keep things running smoothly, but with farming, something always goes wrong at the worst time. A pump breaks or a truck gets a flat, and we just deal with it as a group. We are not looking for fame, just a way to keep our families going and our farms productive.
