Dum A Dum

Down at the Central Plaza Mall in Sector 53, things are always moving. We are Dum A Dum, and we’ve been operating out of this spot for a bit. Working in a mall is different than being on a street corner; you get a lot of people just passing through or taking a break from shopping. The kitchen gets hot, and there is always the sound of something cooking or a timer going off. We spend a lot of our shift prepping ingredients and making sure we have enough containers ready for the rush. It’s a small team here, and we all have to do a bit of everything, from taking orders to cleaning the counters. Sometimes the lunch hour gets so busy we barely have time to talk to each other. We don't have a lot of space for bells and whistles. We just focus on the food and getting it out to the people waiting at the counter. You see all sorts of people here, families on the weekend and office workers during the week. It’s interesting to watch the crowd change throughout the day. We’ve learned how to work fast in the tight kitchen space we have. It’s hard work, and by the time the mall closes, we’re pretty tired. We just clean up, lock the shutters, and head home to do it all again tomorrow.
