Working at the McDonald’s in MGF Mall in Gurgaon is always a bit of a whirlwind. The mall gets so packed on weekends that you can barely see the floor. We are right there in the middle of it all. Most of the time, we’re just focused on keeping the counters clean and making sure nobody is waiting too long for their order. It’s loud, and the mall music is always playing in the background. Our team is a mix of young kids and some older folks who’ve been here since the mall opened. We aren't really much for formal talks. We just show up, put on the uniform, and get to work. Sometimes the machines act up or we run out of napkins, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. It’s not like what you see in the movies. It’s just a lot of moving around and making sure the tables are wiped down. Gurgaon is a fast place, and people are always in a hurry to get to the movies or go shopping. We see all kinds of people coming through. Some are nice, some are stressed out. We just try to keep things moving. The kitchen gets hot, especially in the summer when the mall AC struggles a bit. We just keep going. It’s a job, and we do it every day without much fuss.
