Working out of JMD Regent Arcade on M G Road is interesting because you get to see all kinds of people every day. We are tucked away on the upper ground floor at UGF 02. A lot of folks wander in just out of curiosity, asking about the labels or what certain ingredients are actually used for. We spend a lot of our time unpacking crates and checking the stock we get in from the suppliers. It’s not always glamorous work. There’s a lot of paperwork to handle and making sure the cold storage is at the right temperature is a constant job. Since we handle a lot of specific food items, we have to be really careful with how things are stored on the shelves. The mall can be very quiet on Tuesday afternoons, and then suddenly on a Friday, it's like everyone decided to come at once. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything like that. Most people find us because they were looking for something specific they couldn’t find anywhere else. Our staff is small, and we mostly just focus on getting the shelves filled and the orders sorted out. Sometimes the elevator breaks or the mall AC is acting up, and we just have to deal with it and move on. It’s a bit different from a street-side shop, but the core of it is exactly the same.
