Chatak Chat

Chatak Chat is right on Mall Road in the Kingsway Camp area. It’s a busy part of Delhi with a lot of students always walking around. We see a lot of young people coming in between their classes at the university. The shop isn't very big, so people often end up standing outside on the sidewalk while they eat. We go through a lot of spices and potatoes every single day. The prep work starts early because if we aren't ready by noon, the crowd gets impatient. Sometimes the weather is so hot that the fans don't really help much, but the students don't seem to mind. We’ve had the same sign out front for years and it’s started to fade a bit from the sun. The floor stays a bit sticky no matter how many times we mop it during the day. That’s just the way it is when you’re serving chat. We get folks from all over the city who happen to be passing through North Campus. It’s a noisy spot with the traffic from Mall Road always in the background. We don't have fancy chairs or anything, just some basic counters. People come for a quick bite and then they move on. It’s been our routine for a long time now and we don't see it changing much. We just keep the stall open and ready.
