Subh Marble

If you ever find yourself walking down Sheetla Mata Road in the Marble Market here in Gurgaon, you'll likely pass by Subh Marble. It's a crowded area with a lot of dust and noise, but that is just how the marble business goes. We have been working out of this spot for a long time. The yard is filled with slabs of all kinds, mostly whites and greys that we bring in for local construction. People stop by all day, mostly looking for something specific for their floors or kitchen counters. We spend a lot of time moving these heavy stones around with the crane, which can be a bit slow when the market gets busy. It’s a simple setup. We have a small desk where we keep the records and a big open space for the inventory. It gets really hot in the summer under the tin roof, but we just keep at it. Customers usually come in with measurements scribbled on scraps of paper, and we try to find the best match from what we have on the ground. It isn’t about being the biggest shop in Gurgaon, just about having the right stone when someone needs it. We know most of the other guys in the market too. It’s a tight-knit community here on Sheetla Mata Road. Every slab has its own look, so we spend a lot of time showing people the different patterns.
