Classic Marbles

If you find yourself near Sec-34, specifically around Plot No. 48, you will see Classic Marbles. It’s a big open space filled with slabs of stone. There is white dust on almost everything here. It’s part of the job when you’re moving marble around. We spend our time lifting and organizing these heavy pieces. It’s loud when the saws are running. We don’t have a glossy reception area. It’s mostly just the yard and a small desk where we keep the records. The sun hits the stone in the afternoon and it can get quite bright. We wear heavy boots because you have to be careful with your feet around here. Plot No. 48 is quite easy to spot once you get into Sec-34. We have different kinds of stone, some rough and some smooth. It takes a lot of effort to move them without any chips. Classic Marbles is just a place where people come to pick out what they need for their floors or counters. We show them what’s available in the stacks. It’s a physical job. You go home tired every day. The neighborhood is mostly industrial, so there’s always the sound of engines and work going on nearby. We’ve been at this location for a good bit now. It’s just how we earn our living, one slab at a time.
