My name is Tarsem and I’ve been running this place here on Dhaki road for quite a while now. We are right on the National highway in Pathankot, so you can’t really miss us if you’re driving through. It gets pretty loud with all the trucks and cars passing by all day, but that’s just how life is here in Dhaki. I started this because I wanted something of my own and it’s been a lot of work. Some days are slow, especially when it’s raining hard and nobody wants to stop their car. Other days, we’re running around trying to keep up. It’s just a small spot, nothing fancy or shiny. We have some chairs and a bit of space where people can stand and talk. I usually open up early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. My nephew helps me out sometimes when he isn’t busy with his own things. We know most of the people who live around here by their first names. It’s a good community and we help each other out when the road gets blocked or if someone’s vehicle breaks down nearby. I don’t really have a big plan for the future, I just want to keep the doors open and make sure anyone who stops by gets what they need without any fuss. It’s a simple life on the highway, and we like it that way. We will be here if you pass through.
