In Ghazipur, right in the Mirdadpur Nurpur Sadar area, you will find Jaishreedeep Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited. Motilal was kind enough to let us use his space for the company office. We are a group of farmers who realized that if we didn't start working together, the bigger players would just keep pushing us around. It is a very local affair. Everyone knows everyone else, and most of us have been farming since we were kids. We spend our days checking the crops and then we gather at the office to talk about the latest prices or share advice on how to handle pests. It is not always smooth sailing; sometimes we disagree on things, but we always work it out because we are all in the same boat. We handle a variety of local crops and try to find the best buyers so we don't have to settle for whatever is offered at the nearest gate. The office is a simple room with a fan that barely works in the summer, but it is where all the important decisions happen. We don't have a website or a big advertising budget. We just have our word and our work. Being in Ghazipur means we are close to the river, so the soil is good, but you still have to put in the hours. We are just practical people doing what needs to be done to keep the village thriving through the seasons.
