If you ever find yourself in the Gadchiroli district, you might pass through Chamorshi. That’s where we are, specifically in the village of Murkhada Chak. Our name is Murkhada Producer Company Limited, and we’ve been operating right here at the post office area for a while now. This part of Maharashtra is quite different from the big cities. It’s very green but also quite remote, so things move at a much slower pace than in places like Nagpur or Mumbai. We don’t have fancy computers or a big glass office with air conditioning. Our office is just a simple building where we gather to talk about the harvests and what needs to be transported to the markets. Gadchiroli can be a tough place to work sometimes because the infrastructure isn't always the best, especially when the monsoon hits and the roads in Chamorshi get all muddy and hard to drive on. But this is where our families are, so we make it work regardless of the weather. We spend a lot of our time just chatting with the locals and making sure the crops are being handled right. It’s a lot of physical work and staying on top of the seasonal changes that happen every year. Most of us grew up in Murkhada Chak, so we know every corner of this village. It’s a small operation, just a few of us trying to keep the company going. We are usually around if someone stops by the village.
