Vedasanthur Kalanjia Jeevidam 10 K Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based out of M. Pangajavalli’s place in Athumedu, over in the East Vedasandur area. Vedasanthur Kalanjia Jeevidam 10 K Farmer Producer Company Limited is really just a group of us farmers trying to get a better handle on our work. There are a lot of us involved, which makes things a bit complicated to organize sometimes. We meet up at the house or out in the fields to discuss what needs doing. The 10K part of our name is an ambitious goal, but we’re just taking it one day at a time. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, so we know the land around Vedasandur like the back of our hands. We deal with all sorts of crops, depending on what the season allows. It’s nice having a group because when one person has a problem, someone else usually knows how to fix it. We aren't some polished company with a big marketing budget. Our meetings are usually loud with everyone talking at once over tea. We spend a lot of time worrying about water and prices, like every other farmer in this region. The office is really just a corner with some ledgers and a mobile phone that rings way too much. We’re just trying to make a living and keep our farms going for the next generation. It’s honest work, even if it’s tiring and doesn't make us rich.
