Money Mushrooms

We are based at Erk Illam in Ingur. Mushroom farming is a bit different from regular farming because you're mostly working indoors in controlled conditions. It's a lot of monitoring humidity and temperature. If things get too dry or too wet, the whole batch can be ruined. We spend a lot of time in the dark or under dim lights. It’s a quiet kind of work. We started this because we had the space at No. 19 and wanted to try something different. It took us a while to get the hang of it. Mushrooms are picky. We have bags of substrate lined up and we check them every few hours. It’s not something you can just walk away from. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the process. The air inside is always a bit damp. We sell what we grow to local markets and people nearby. We don't have a fancy website or a sales team. We just focus on getting the mushrooms to grow right. Sometimes a crop doesn't turn out like we wanted, and we have to figure out why. It’s a learning process every day. We just enjoy the work and the fact that we can do it right here in Ingur. It keeps us busy and the mushrooms are always interesting to watch as they pop up.
