The State Trading Corpn. Of India Ltd.

We are located in the Perumpillil Buildings on M.G. Road in Ernakulam. This place has been here for ages, and it feels like it sometimes. The State Trading Corpn. Of India Ltd. is a big name, but in this office, it’s just us handling the daily grind. We have a post box, number 1019, because the mail is always coming in. Working on M.G. Road means it’s always loud outside with the buses and the horns. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of old fans and people typing. We deal with a lot of different trade goods, so the paperwork can get pretty confusing if you don't stay on top of it. It’s a lot of logistics and checking numbers. We’ve got high ceilings and those old-fashioned windows that sometimes get stuck. It’s not a modern glass office, but it works for what we need. Most of us have our own routines, getting in early to beat the traffic. We deal with a lot of different people from all over, which makes the days go by a bit faster. There is a lot of history in these walls, you can see it in the way the floors are worn down. We just keep the wheels turning on the trade side of things. It’s steady work, nothing too flashy, just keeping the records straight and the shipments moving. Most afternoons, we have a quick tea break together before finishing up for the day.
