Spices Board

The Spices Board operates out of Sugandha Bhavan. It's tied to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, but inside the building, it feels like a place where people are just trying to get things sorted for the spice trade. We’re located in a government building, so there’s a bit of paperwork involved in everything we do. It’s not a flashy setup. Most of the desks are covered in reports and folders about exports and checking the quality of goods. We spend our days dealing with various regulations and helping traders understand what they need to do to move their products. It can be a bit slow moving sometimes because of all the steps we have to follow. We don't have a marketing team to make us sound exciting. We’re just here to do a specific job. The atmosphere at Sugandha Bhavan is usually quite serious, with people coming in and out for meetings or to get permits. It’s a lot of administrative work, which isn't always fun, but it’s necessary for the industry. We try to be helpful when people call with questions, even if the answers are sometimes complicated. It’s just a regular office environment with a lot of history. We don’t make big claims about being the best; we just follow the rules and try to keep things organized for everyone involved. It's busy, it's often loud with phones ringing, but we get through it.
