We've been at P.B. No.2277 in Palarivattom for quite some time now. If you know the area, you know how the traffic can get around the post office here. Most days start with the sound of the shutters going up and the smell of coffee from the place nearby. Our office isn't anything fancy, just a lot of desks and people making sure everything with the spice trade is moving along. We deal with exporters and farmers, and there's usually a stack of forms to go through before lunch. It's a lot of coordination, really. Some of us have been here for years, watching the neighborhood change and the buildings get taller. When the monsoon hits, the rain really drums on the roof, and we have to make sure the windows are shut tight so the papers don't fly around. We aren't trying to do anything big or flashy, just the regular work that needs doing every day. People come in to ask questions about cardamom or pepper, and we try to point them in the right direction. It's a steady job, and the tea break in the afternoon is usually when we catch up on what's happening in the local news. The fans keep humming overhead, and by evening, we're wrapping things up to head home through the Palarivattom rush. It’s just how things go here at the board, day in and day out, making sure the spices get to where they need to go.
