Parekh Sons

Down on Jawahar Road in Koovapadom, you'll find Parekh Sons. We've been in this spot for quite some time, and the building shows its age a little, but it suits us just fine. It's a family-run operation, so there is usually a lot of talk about who is supposed to be doing what. We deal with all sorts of things, mostly acting as a middleman for local goods. The shopfront is usually piled high with crates or sacks, depending on the day. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make enough to keep the lights on and the families fed. People from the neighborhood stop by not just for business, but often just to catch up on the local news. We sit on old wooden stools and drink tea while we look over the ledgers. It's a slow pace compared to the big city, but we prefer it that way. We don't have a website or a marketing person. Most people find us just by walking down the street or hearing about us from a neighbor. Sometimes the bookkeeping gets a little behind when things are busy, but we always catch up eventually. We know our customers by name and their parents’ names too. It’s a simple way of doing business, based on just being there every day and doing what we said we would do.
