Our little office is tucked away in the Mini Civil Station over in Mudavoor. To be more specific, we are inside the Office of the Assistant Director of Agriculture. It is a busy place with people coming and going for all sorts of farming paperwork. Muvattupuzha Pineapple Farmers Producer Company Limited started because the pineapple growers in this area needed a way to stick together. If you grow pineapples, you know how hard it is when the market gets weird or the rain doesn't stop. We are just a bunch of people who actually get our hands dirty in the fields. The office isn't much to look at, just desks and folders and the smell of old paper, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of time talking about fertilizers, harvest timing, and how to get the fruit to the markets without it spoiling. It is not some polished business operation. We have our fair share of arguments and long meetings where nothing seems to get settled, but we always figure it out in the end. Being based at the civil station helps because we are close to the agriculture officials too. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We grow pineapples and we try to sell them for a fair price. That is the whole story. It is a lot of work, but it feels right for this area and our people.
