Rs Marakadai is situated over at Sugandha Bhavan, right by the N.H Bypass in Palarivattom. If you know the area, you know how busy that road gets with all the trucks and cars zooming past. We deal with wood, mostly. The yard is usually full of logs or cut timber waiting for someone to pick it up. There is always the sound of a saw or something being moved around. It is dusty work, and our clothes usually have a bit of sawdust on them by lunch. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a big lobby. It’s just a practical space where wood gets sorted and sold. The bypass makes it easy for the big lorries to pull in and out, which is why we’re here. We have a small office where we keep the books and talk to people who stop by. It’s not the quietest place to work because of the highway, but you stop noticing the noise after a while. We have been at this location for a bit now, and most of the locals know where to find us if they need timber for a project. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, we move the wood, and we go home. No one here is wearing a suit or trying to act like a big boss. We just handle the marakadai work and try to keep things organized despite the mess sawdust makes.
