India Pepper & Spice Trade Association

The India Pepper & Spice Trade Association is situated at Vi/150 in Jew Town. If you know the area, you know it smells like history and spices all at once. We’ve been part of this landscape for a long time. Our building isn't new, but it holds a lot of memories of how the trade used to be and how it still goes on today. We spend our time coordinating between the different traders and making sure the spice market runs as it should. There is a lot of paperwork involved in tracking peppers and other spices, and our office is often filled with the sound of old fans and people discussing prices. Jew Town is a busy place with tourists and workers all mixed together, but inside our doors, it’s mostly about the business of spices. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on being a reliable point for the trade association members. Sometimes the rains make the old streets a bit messy, but that’s just life in this part of town. We are proud to be part of the local history here. It's a simple operation, really, just keeping the traditions of the trade going through the years. It can be a bit slow in the off-season, but when the harvest comes in, this whole place feels alive with the energy of the trade and the sharp smell of fresh pepper that hangs in the humid air.
