Government High School

Our school is number 157 here in Mulanthuruthy. It has been a fixture in this part of Ernakulam for many years, and honestly, the building shows its age a little bit here and there. We have high ceilings and those big windows that let in the breeze, which is good because we do not have air conditioning in the classrooms. The mornings are always a bit chaotic with students rushing through the gates and the staff trying to get everyone to the assembly on time. We are a government school, so things are pretty straightforward. We follow the state syllabus and focus on getting the students through their exams every year so they can move on to college. We do not have a lot of extra money for fancy things, but we have a dedicated group of teachers who really care about the kids. The playground is mostly dirt and some grass, and it is where all the games happen during the lunch breaks. We have a lot of history here, with parents who went to school in these same classrooms now bringing their own children back to us. It is a community effort to keep things running. We deal with broken desks and leaky roofs sometimes during the monsoon, but we just fix them and move on. It is a place where real learning happens in a very practical way for the local families of Mulanthuruthy.
