Cochin Nutmeg Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are based out of the Mini Civil Station in Angamaly, right near the agriculture director's office. This group is mostly made up of local people who grow nutmeg around here. It started because a few of us realized it was better to work together than try to figure out the markets on our own. Usually, you can find someone in the office during the week, though we spend a lot of time out in the fields too. Nutmeg is a tricky crop to get right, especially with the weather changes lately. We share tips on drying the mace and keeping the trees healthy. It’s not a big fancy operation. Most of us have been doing this for years, passed down from our parents. The office in Angamaly helps us stay organized with paperwork and government stuff. We try to make sure every farmer gets a fair look-in. It’s a lot of manual work, picking the fruit and sorting through it all by hand. Sometimes things get busy during harvest, and the office gets a bit chaotic with everyone coming in at once. We just wanted a way to keep the nutmeg trade going strong in this part of Kerala. If you come by the civil station, you'll probably see us talking shop or checking on the latest prices. It’s just us farmers trying to make a living and looking after the trees that have been here forever.
