Alangad Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based over in Aduvathuruth West, which is part of the Veliyathunad post office area. It is a pretty quiet spot for the most part, and we started Alangad Farmer Producer Company Limited just to have a way for the local farmers here to work as one group. There are quite a few of us now. Most days you’ll find somebody at the small office doing the accounts or just talking about the upcoming season. Farming around here has its ups and downs, especially when the rain doesn’t come when it is supposed to. We are not some big city business with fancy suits. We are just people from around Alangad who know the land. The office gets a bit busy when it's time to distribute things or when the harvest is coming in. We handle various crops and try to help each other out with getting better prices for what we produce. It’s a lot of practical work, like moving bags and checking the quality of the grain or whatever we are growing at the time. We’ve been at this for a while now and the building in Aduvathuruth is where everything happens. It isn't always perfectly organized, but we get the job done eventually. It feels like a small community effort because that is exactly what it is. We just want to keep our farms going and make sure the families here can stay on their land without too much trouble.
