The Ding Dong

The Ding Dong is located in Sakchi, over in Jamshedpur. We are right there in the Bhuiyandih area, specifically in front of the Swarnrekha River. Having the river right there is nice, though sometimes the wind carries a bit of a damp smell when it rains hard. Sakchi is a really crowded part of town, 831001 is always humming with people going to the markets or the offices. Our place is pretty simple. We chose the name because it sounded catchy, I guess. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure things are clean and the stove is lit. You see a lot of people walking by toward the riverbank in the evenings. It’s a bit of a mix of people who come in. Some are just passing through and others live right around the corner. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint soon, but for now, they are fine. We don't do anything special for marketing or try to act like we are better than the other spots nearby. We just open the doors and see who comes in. Sometimes it’s quiet and we just sit and watch the traffic. Other times it feels like everyone in Jamshedpur decided to eat at once. It’s just how it goes in a place like this.
